CD PROJEKT RED wanted to improve their e-commerce experience by offering localized content for their global fanbase. Their Shopify Plus store needed to support six different languages, ensuring that international customers could browse and shop in their preferred language. To achieve this, we upgraded the theme to integrate multilingual support and implemented a region picker that allowed customers to switch between languages effortlessly.

I worked closely with the e-commerce team to modify the Shopify theme, ensuring it could accommodate translations. This required adding specific code blocks that enabled language switching and backfilling missing translation elements. A major challenge in localization is maintaining a seamless user experience across different languages. UI components designed for English often need adjustments to work properly in other languages, requiring extensive testing and refinements.

Adding translated content to the site was another hurdle. To streamline this process, I helped integrate and configure Langify, a Shopify app that manages translations. Setting up Langify required detailed customization to align with the store’s structure, ensuring that every part of the site displayed the correct language content without disrupting functionality.

Ultimately, the project successfully introduced six languages to the store, making it more accessible to CD PROJEKT RED’s international audience. The combination of theme customization, translation app integration, and rigorous testing ensured a smooth experience for global customers. This project reinforced how complex localization can be, requiring both technical expertise and a deep focus on user experience.
